WELCOME 

With the large national investment on development related to water, energy, transportation and allied fields in the country, and considering the important role of the hydraulic research in maximizing the output from these investment, the need for setting up a national forum to bring together the hydraulic engineering fraternity was keenly felt. In order to fulfill this need The Indian Society for Hydraulics (ISH) has been set up in 1992 as a technical, educational and non-profiteering voluntary national organization to encourage and foster understanding amongst engineers, scientists and other technical personnel engaged in various activities related to hydraulics. OBJECTIVES

  • provide forum to engineers and scientists working in area of hydraulics and allied disciplines, including research, design and construction for exchange of information.

  • disseminate information to persons in the field of hydraulics through seminars / symposiums / workshops

  • hold annual meetings of the society where the technical papers could be presented as also to hold smaller zonal meetings to provide a forum for regional needs.

  • publish journal of hydraulic engineering and news letter containing research / review papers, notes, etc  

  • liaise with various international societies working in the field of Hydraulics, such as International Association of Hydraulic Research, the International Conference on Coastal Engineering and the Conference of Port and Coastal Engineering in Developing Countries.

  • accord recognition to outstanding workers in hydraulics, through suitable awards
